Commemoration on the occasion of the 33rd International Day of Persons with Disabilities
December 3, 2024 @ 11:30 am - December 13, 2024 @ 3:30 pm
National Network of Disabled Conflict Victims (NNDCV) celebrated the 33rd International Day
of Persons with Disabilities on December 03, at Mandala Theatre. This commemoration of the
International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024 by NNDCV is a remarkable initiative that
highlights the leadership and resilience of persons with disabilities, particularly civilian-disabled
armed conflict victims. The event, themed “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities
for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” creatively combined poetry and cartoon display to
communicate powerful narratives.
The inclusion of 91 diverse audience members, including diplomatic representatives, stakeholders,
and conflict victims, underscores the collaborative and inclusive spirit of the event. The initiative
to have poets connect with and craft works based on the experiences of civilian-disabled conflict
victims ensures authenticity and emotional resonance. Meanwhile, the collaboration with the
Cartoonists Club of Nepal to display 24 meaningful cartoons at Mandala Theatre added a visual
storytelling element, making the commemoration both unique and impactful.
This effort not only amplifies the voices of persons with disabilities but also promotes awareness
about their experiences and contributions, setting an example for creative advocacy and
engagement.
NNDCV along with the support of Amnesty International, Advocacy Forum, Nagarik Aawaz and
Mandala Theatre jointly collaborated in organizing poetry performances and cartoon display.
